Pinterest Gives Mobile Site a Makeover as Smartphone Traffic Booms Pinterest has added features to its mobile website that were previously on its native app and the desktop version of the site.

Pinterest unveiled a brand new version of its mobile website Thursday, making features available to mobile browser users that were previously only on its native app and the desktop version of the site.

The update means that users accessing Pinterest from an app like Safari will now have access to pins with added information and personalized suggestions. In the past, those features were available only on the desktop version of the site or in the Android and iOS apps.

Pinterest says its mobile user-base represented 50 percent of its traffic at the beginning of 2013 and grew to 75 percent by the end of the year.

The new mobile site, which Pinterest describes as a "complete rewrite and redesign," now displays recent boards in the board picker and also includes updates to the board page, sign-up flow. The company says it's now much easier to save pins from its mobile website.

Last month, Pinterest announced an expansion into Indonesia and support for Korean translation. The site is already available in Russian, Turkish, Japanese and several other languages in countries where mobile use accounts for even more traffic.

A better mobile site will mean a better first impression and experience for many users.
