Who's Driving the AI Revolution in Singapore? The AI adoption in Singapore is so robust that at least six in 10 organizations have already implemented the technology

Investors continue to pour money into artificial intelligence (AI) technology, even as the market is getting increasingly crowded. The AI craze that has swept several countries over the past few years is picking up speed in Singapore as well.

According to a December 2017 and February 2018 survey by American data storage company Seagate Technology, the AI adoption in Singapore is so robust that at least six in 10 organizations have already implemented AI in one form or another in areas such as information technology (60 per cent), supply chain and logistics (48 per cent), customer support (49 per cent), and research and development (41 per cent).

The survey adds that nine in 10 organizations have said they are planning to implement AI in the next 12 months. While the technology is at an emerging stage, Singapore still presents some great opportunities for young startups. It seems that no industry will be left untouched by the AI disruption.

Here are top three organizations that are the leading the AI race in Singapore:

Nadine Social Robot

Nadine is a female AI-powered humanoid social robot is developed by scientists at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore in 2015. The robot has a strong human-likeness with a natural-looking skin and hair and realistic hands. Nadine is powered by intelligent software similar to Apple's Siri or Microsoft's Cortana, and it can be a personal assistant in offices and homes in future.

Professor Nadia Magnenat Thalmann, the director of the Institute for Media Innovation who led the development of Nadine, believes these social robots are among NTU's many exciting new media innovations that companies can leverage for commercialization.

TabSquare

TabSquare revolutionizes the concept of dining out and change the way a consumer interacts with the restaurant environment using AI.

Founded by INSEAD business school graduates, Anshul Gupta, Chirag Tejuja and Sankaran Sreeraman, TabSquare provides AI-powered smart in-restaurant solutions that leverage consumer data and deep learning algorithms to provide an engaging dining experience for restaurants' patrons and helps to double restaurants' profitability.

The startups' solutions currently collect nearly 30 million customer interaction data points on a monthly basis, which combined with detailed restaurant operations and menu data, powers their AI engine.

AnyMind Group

Headquartered in Singapore, AnyMind Group, the parent company of AdAsia Holdings, provides industries with a suite of AI-driven technology solutions to enable businesses to drive efficiency and scale along with a proprietary AI-driven matching engine and SaaS solutions.
