Who Is Luigi Mangione? UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson Murder Suspect Arrested, Faces Several Charges Mangione, 26, has been charged in connection with the killing of Thompson.

Luigi Mangione, 26, is facing a second-degree murder charge in New York City for the "brazen" killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch. He is also charged with three gun charges and forgery.

"We do have a lot of evidence in this case," Tisch told ABC News's "Good Morning America" on Tuesday.

Luigi Mangione's family released the following statement:

"Unfortunately, we cannot comment on news reports regarding Luigi Mangione. We only know what we have read in the media. Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi's arrest. We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved. We are devastated by this news."

Where Was Luigi Mangione Found?

Mangione was discovered in a McDonald's "acting suspiciously," Tisch said, and carrying a fake New Jersey ID with the same name used at a Manhattan hostel that the alleged shooter used to check in last month, per NBC.

He was also found with a gun and suppressor that were "both consistent with the weapon used in the murder," Tisch said, adding that there was also a three-page document, handwritten, noting possible "motivation and mindset."

CNN is reporting that the document included the phrases, "These parasites had it coming," and "I do apologize for any strife and trauma, but it had to be done."

A senior law enforcement officer told the New York Times that the document was a "262-word handwritten manifesto" that begins "with the writer appearing to take responsibility for the murder."

Journalist Ken Klippenstein published an exclusive on his site with what he says is the full manifesto, and it does include the reported phrasing.

Is Luigi Mangione on Social Media?

The internet was quick to find what could be Mangione's X account and his Instagram account. While his X account is still up and running (and he's since garnered hundreds of thousands of followers), his Instagram account has been taken down by Meta.

Per the New York Times, Mangione's mother filed a missing person report in San Francisco on Nov. 18, and six months ago, communication with friends and family ceased.
